The Champion Centre is New Zealand's largest and longest-running centre-based programme for infants and young children with significant developmental delays and disabilities. It has been providing wrap-around services to children and families in the Christchurch area for more than 35 years and has grown from a programme for a handful of infants to a service that helps more than 150 families every year. The children in these famlies have a wide range of developmental challenges including Down syndrome, global developmental delay, cerebral palsy, autistic spectrum disorder, dyspraxia and the consequences of prematurity.
