Riding for Ryder

Starting at Bluff and finishing at Cape Reinga - three scooters and a mini tore up the country at a leisurely pace to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Champion Centre.

Anthony wanted to do something to help his friend's grandson Ryder who attends the Champion Centre, so he decided he would ride 2316km on a scooter. This is a quote from Anthony "It will be a physical challenge but nothing like the daily challenge some parents/family face, its a Ride for Ryder". Canterbury Rams

 

The Canterbury Rams have identified the Champion Centre as one of their nominated Charities. This came about after one of our fathers suggested that we are a good local charity to support. 

We were delighted to welcome Matt Rogers (all 6 feet 11 inches of him) to the centre to take the children through a few basketball moves.

On the 2nd of June with the support of the Delany and Belcher families as volunteers we collected $207.00 from the basketball supporters. We also raised awareness about the centre and the amazing work we all do. These events also help to lift our profile in the community.

 Battle of the Rebuild

The Champion Centre was chosen as one of four nominated charities that would benefit from the funds raised at the recent Battle of the Rebuild boxing event.

We are so thankful to: Chris Sinclair (Sinclair Homes), Troy Lange (Cantabrian Homes), Jeremy Solakof (Mike Greer Homes), Emily Marriot (Corbel Construction)and John Mason (SSPNZ)  who went out to fight for our families.

Donations gifted in support of our fighters though Give a Little raised $28,234. Thankyou to all those great people who supported our boxers.
Our auction items raised the balance which included: a High Peak Hunting Trip donated by the Guild family and a Queenstown Action Escape package courtesy of Heartland Hotel and AJ Hacket Bungy. We also auctioned the naming rights to the Music Room, which raised a generous $7,475.
Silent auction items were sponsored by Chris Plummer, Carolyne Grant, Barkers, Mary Napper and Ali Frew- Stanton. 

All together they raised a total of $46,803 which will be split equally between the Champion Centre and The Champion Foundation. Thankyou so much to all our supporters for helping our children. This was a fantastic effort. The Battle of the Rebuild helped raise awareness about the great work we do and the event affirmed the fantastic support that we receive from wonderful people who have faith in the work that we do.

Z Energy Shirley - Good in the Hood

The Champion Centre was one of four groups that were supported by Z Energy during their Good in The Hood campaign in March.
A big thankyou to Z Energy and to all those wonderful supporters who voted for us as they purchased something at the Z Energy Shirley centre.

We received $1,014.

Brevet Fundraiser - Dads biking for children with special needs

What a way to see the South Island – but can they do it?

The two fathers featured in this fundraiser will definitely be worthwhile keeping an eye on in 2014!!!

With your support, they found their way home. Thank you for caring and supporting two crazy fathers!!!

Tuhaitara Charity Run - Giving Children with Disabilities a Voice.

Come and join our fun run near Woodend Beach on November 3rd 2013 and help raise funds for a Tobii PCEye GO for the children at the Centre who cannot coordinate thier muscles to express their needs, thoughts and feelings. With this device they can control a computer through eye-gaze. Amazing!!!
