LEARNING THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
This part of our programme primarily supports the work of the speech and language therapists and the early intervention teachers. The learning through technology specialists use a combination of in-house developed and purchased activities on computer and ipad to support a range of communication and cognition goals as part of children’s individualised programmes. Some activities support basic understanding of cause and effect; others support concepts such as ‘same’ and ‘different’; while still others support the learning of numbers, colours and early reading skills. The games and other activities are motivating and fun for children and provide an opportunity for both staff and parents to learn more about what each child knows and to feel pride as they succeed.
