TRANSITION TO SCHOOL

A successful transition to school sets a child up to be the best learner they can be; helps teachers be inclusive and effective; and provides certainty for parents that their child will thrive in school. To ensure a smooth transition process for the child, the family and the school, we offer a gradual transfer of information and knowledge about the child together with facilitation for building new relationships necessary for the child.

The transition into school, for each child, is supported by their multi-disciplinary team at the Centre, by an EIE that the child knows well and by the Early Childhood Teachers at their community centre. By being flexible in our approach to each transition and honouring the unique capacities of each child, we are able to focus on the best outcomes for each child and family/whānau.
