THERE ARE A VARIETY OF WAYS YOU CAN HELP

How are our programmes funded?
The programme is funded by a combination of central government funding (Ministry of Education and Whaikaha) and fundraising through grants, events and philanthropy.  As of July 2024, the beginning of our financial year, the government funds approximately $1.8 million of the $2.8 million it takes to run the Centre annually. This leaves a shortfall of approximately $1 million to achieve through fundraising efforts compared to the previous $700,000 we needed to raise in the previous financial year.
Donate today:
  • Help Support a Child: If you’d like to contribute to a particular part of our programme, such as our internationally acclaimed Musical Play Therapy programme, the Technology Assisted Learning programme, the Family Support programme, Hydrotherapy or Feeding Programmes. Donate online now or contact our team on [email protected]
  • Make a Donation/ Make a Difference: A one-off donation of any amount big or small will have a ripple effect in the Champion Centre community (every gift over $5 is tax deductible). Donate online now or directly to or direct into our bank account.
  • Regular Giving: Most of our family’s journey with us is until they transition to school, which can be up to 6 years. Joining our community of regular givers, you contribute to ensuring these children have the best start and a brighter future. It’s easy to set up ‘Regular Giving’ for our Centre children either donate online or contact us.
  • Purchase a Julie Wylie CD or DVD. If you purchase one from the Champion Centre, Julie donates $5.00 from every sale to the Centre. Contact us for more information.

Get in touch with our Fundraising and Marketing Team [email protected] to find out more about how you could support us in the following ways:

  • Payroll Giving: You can ‘give as you earn’, a simple way to donate to a cause close to your heart. Donations are given from your pay, so it comes straight to us, is regular and allows us to plan for the future. You also get the tax rebate from your charitable donation back immediately.
  • Donate the Difference: Every year, about 100 children, families and whānau, attend our weekly intensive therapy programmes. While we do receive some government funding, we are still faced with an annual shortfall of approximately $700,000 we are challenged to raise through grants and community fundraising. This equates to approximately $7,000 for each of these children, each year. By choosing to 'Donate the Difference' of around $7,000 to the Champion Centre, this means one child’s early intervention programmes are taken care of for one whole year.
  • Fundraising Events: Want to host a fundraiser?  From sausage sizzles, sponsored runs to gala dinners, if you, your organisation or your club would like to select the Champion Centre as the beneficiary of an event, we can provide brochures, banners and speakers to support your efforts through social media.
  • Legacy Giving: It’s a way of giving that costs you nothing in your lifetime – but a gift that makes a lasting difference in the lives of our children. Help build a brighter future for our young Cantabrians and leave a gift that keeps on giving, as your legacy for generations to come.

Please spread the word!

Although we have been providing support to families for decades, there are still many people who do not know what we do.  By increasing our visibility, this makes our fundraising that much easier. We would also love to come and speak at your event; whether it's a work, social or community group, we are more than happy to come and share our story.

Contribute to the Champion Foundation Trust:
We believe that every child, regardless of their ability, has the fundamental right to access the resources and support required to enable them to realise their full potential; physically, mentally and socially.

Capital Fundraising helps to provide sustainability to enable our young Champions to flourish! Income from this fund will allow the Centre to plan for moderate growth and long-term sustainability. This fund is managed prudently, with capital maintained, and interest used to supplement the operational funding of the core business operations of the Champion Centre.

If you are considering making a major gift that will have a significant impact, please visit the Champion Foundation Trust or contact:
Foundation Administrator, Steph Burdon: [email protected]
